Teacher

Dr. Patrick Jacobs joined the faculty of Coastal Alabama Community College in the Fall of 2022, where he teaches applied voice, choir, and music appreciation. As a voice teacher, he specializes in providing classical vocal training with the ability to adapt to contemporary styles. For eighteen years, Dr. Jacobs served on the faculty of the University of Mobile, where he was the Director of Vocal Studies and Opera. In addition to teaching applied lessons, he has taught courses in vocal literature, diction, and opera history.

As a judge and clinician, Dr. Jacobs has worked with the Alabama District VII Solo & Small Ensemble Festival, the Pensacola Music Teachers Association’s Sonata competition, National Association of Teachers of Singing Alabama state auditions, and has served as a guest clinician at the Florida Theater Conference, and with several high schools in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.  Dr. Jacobs also taught voice for the International Performing Arts Institute in Kiefersfelden, Germany during the summers of 2011-2014.

Dr. Jacobs currently serves as the President of the Alabama chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and has previously served as the Vice-President, Workshop Coordinator and Repertoire Judge.
